Wednesday 1/5/22, Waco, TX to Midland, TX
Up at 7:30am, sunny, clear and crisp 42 degrees!!! I'm off to take advantage of the facility and take a hot shower. The next camp spot will be at the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum in Midland, TX.

As we drove along we were seeing some impressive signs for this eatery. We got to it only to find out that it's closed on Wednesday and of course, today is Wednesday!!!! It must be a very good place from the amount of parking space around the place. Next trip.
There are also two "overflow lots of equal size. Texas-style.
So off we roll to get to the next stop. Petroleum Museum in Midland, TX.
We arrived to the museum at 4:00pm. There were already 3 other RV campers also utilizing the parking lot under the HH program. One from as far away as Ontario, Canada. Another from Reno, NV and they were originally from CA but have a brand new travel trailer that they are using to go to Florida. Maybe to find a place to relocate. It was funny to see how they were being so careful and not wanting to cook nor shower in it, in case it got dirty.
We got there with enough time for Eldon to head right to the museum since it closed at 5pm. The hour was enough, he said. Moreno and I walked around to stretch our legs. He was not happy with the sand burs hidden throughout the grass.

The following set of photos can show you some of what Eldon saw inside.
The most prolific oil field in the world until Saudia Arabia. The Permian Basin is named for the age of the geologic units that make it, essentially 250-300 million years ago, just after the major coal forming period of earth's history and ending with the Great Dying extinction event where 70+% of the earth's life forms died off due to elevated global temperatures and oceanic anoxia (lack of oxygen). This however opened the door to those little lizards who survived and over the next 180 million years led to the era of the dinosaurs.
Jim Hall of Midland invented the spoiler on the back of race cars to keep them grounded. There are at least dozen of his cars in the museum.
Some of the oil drilling rigs in the outdoor exhibit area.
The are real oil rigs drilling in the Permian Basin.
We didn't plan to hang around this area for long since there was no wifi at the museum nor shower facilities. We also needed to get to New Mexico tomorrow. We went to bed early so we could get an early start tomorrow. Moreno got his Flea Treatment treat, that was a highlight to mention:):) Supposed to be 41 degrees tomorrow, our high for the last several days.
