Monday 12/20/21 Sunset, SC to Aiken, SC

Here are the house photos I promised yesterday, but need to wait for the sunshine to really show the place off.

Lori again feasted us with a hearty breakfast.  I have to say that I will gain weight on this vacation for sure.  We had gotten up at 8am (a sleep-in day) and finally got on the road at 11:30am.  It was hard to leave such a beautiful place.  Not to mention the company.  Eldon thinks the roads were laid out by a totally drunk person or someone who can only see flat paper layouts because they totally ignored the topography.

So we had to say good bye for now and hit the trail again.  The 2 lane roads around here go on forever.  Tall, tall trees, now somewhat bare of leaves due to the frigid temperatures line the way.  So beautiful.  Many original plantation houses from the 1800s also show up along the way, some nearly ruins, some fantastically preserved and a few open to the public.  Unfortunately this trip will not allow for too many sight seeing and touring stops.  If we want to meet Santa at Erick’s we have to hustle along.  As we say now “Next Trip”.

So, this afternoon we arrived at Stable View Farm, in the heart of horse country.  It is another Harvest Host (HH) site.  It is over 1000 acres with stables, show rinks, dressage rinks, and well everything.  I missed taking a photo this evening of a Sikh, dressed all in black riding his most beautiful, elegant horse, also all ebony black through the darkening evening.  It was like a scene from a movie.

We were supposed to stay 3 nights but only staying one as it is cold and rainy and so we are heading to Florida a week early to see Buddy Antone. 😳😀

Their WiFi though might give me a chance to catch up.
